A Better Vampire Fang

Are you tired of wearing those little fangs that hang outside your lip in a completely unrealistic way? I have the solution for you. These new prim vampire fangs use an alpha layer on the lips to subtly show your fangs *inside the mouth*.

Take a look:

These can be worn by both men and women - can be adjusted to fit the size of your mouth/teeth. The fangs come in two versions - one with an invisiprim, and another with an alpha layer (so you can use it with shadows).

This is all thanks to the lovely Misty Moonshadow and is only 75L at A Netherworld or on the Marketplace.

My 1st item is a new skybox called the "Fantasy Skybox." On the outside, it looks just like a normal skybox, but on the inside, it's a whole different world. All the furniture inside is included, and it's only 200L

I also made a set of gothic garden lamps. One features a spider, the other a cobweb. The poles, top, and swirls are all sculpted. These two lights are only 75L.

Circle of 30 Donation!

The Second Life Circle of 30 raised $97.07 to help victims of domestic violence during the two week fundraiser. Tonight $100 was donated to Choices. Below are the transaction records of the donation.

Here is Professor Afterthought, the safe keeper of the L$. She has L$27,958.

Here she is transfering the L$ to her Xstreet account so she can sell the Lindens for Dollars:

Once the L$ were transferred, they were exchanged for $ and deposited into Professor Afterthought's paypal account:

The total amount transfered to paypal was $97.07. Once the deposit cleared, Professor Afterthought then donated an even $100 to Choices.

The donation was followed up with an e-mail to Choices so they would know how the money was raised!

Thank you everyone who participated in the Circle of 30 fundraiser and to everyone who purchased one of the items created for the fundraiser. Without your help, none of this would have been possible.

A Netherworld is Saying Goodbye to Xstreetsl.com

SL recently announced some policy changes for their xstreetsl.com marketplace. These changes will mean that it will no longer be cost effect for A Netherworld to list items on xstreetsl.com for sale. Right now, I have a number of low cost and free items available. Some of the free and 1L items are things I made for personal use and decided to share with the SL community. They were not marketing tools or loss leaders for my store, nor were they intended to bring traffic to my in-world shop. I am one of the smaller shop owners that will be hurt by this policy; however, I understand the perspective of a large for-profit organization like Linden Labs. They are under no obligation to make things cheap for me or for you, and I guess I am one of those "hindering that experience for shoppers and merchants alike" by contributing to "bloated" freebie listings. I hang my head in shame.

So, if you are interested in purchasing any of my items on xstreet, now is the time to do so. I have a number of skyboxes for sale very cheap along with some castles, basic furniture builds, and other goodies. After the new policies go into effect, these items will no longer be available on xstreetsl but will still be available in my shop in world.

Combat Domestic Violence

There have been some strong debates within the Second Life community about domestic violence recently coinciding with Gala Pheonix's release of the Battle Royale skins reviewed by Gogo in the Juicy Bomb blog and discussed by Gattina Dumpling in Shopping Cart Disco. I would like to take this opportunity of heightened awareness of the horrors of domestic violence to do something productive. Not only is October Domestic Violence Awareness Month, but as we enter into the holiday season, we enter a time of increased risk and danger. Rates of domestic violence increase around the holidays for a number of reasons. Let's work as a community and help some of these victims of abuse escape the cycle of violence.

In order to raise awareness and help combat domestic violence, Professor Afterthought, from Columbus State Community College is looking for 30 shop owners willing to create an item representing the fight against domestic violence and donate the proceeds to assist victims of domestic violence. This "Circle of 30" will focus on disseminating information on domestic violence to the Second Life community, and assist real people in the real world. Let's take the debate and make a difference.

This "Circle of 30" will be organized as a hunt from December 1st to December 15th. These thirty (30) shops in Second Life will place one quality item for sale for an amount less than L$100 (to be determined by the creator) with all proceeds to benefit Choices, a domestic violence shelter (this is my local shelter. If you would like to participate and donate to your local shelter, that is wonderful, and I would just ask you to create two items).

If you’re not entirely clear on this whole “good” and “bad” thing, I urge you to read Gabby Panacek’s recent blog about anti-inspection devices, Just Say No. Not wanting to rehash her entire argument, let me just say, anti-inspection device = bad. As a designer (I know that term is stretching it a bit, but I do make some stuff), I really appreciate word of mouth and the ability of people to see where my stuff can be purchased. I also like my customers to not have to deal with horrendous lag while shopping. So, to benefit designers and customers alike, I made this handy-dandy little sign. Freaky Fall Hunt

The Freaky Fall Hunt officially started on September 1st. However, this hunt was in danger of self destructing as the original organizers disappeared. So, the hunt has been reorganized. It is now The Official Freaky Fall Hunt with new organizers, a new blog, a new sign, and a new starting point.

The hunt has been extended for two weeks and will now run through October 15, and I am also pleased to announce that A Netherworld/Another World will be the starting point.

I know that many of the vendors spent a considerable amount of time creating special prizes (and especially freaky ones) for this hunt, and there are over 200 stores participating.

I've been spending most of this week relaxing by the pool, but I do have my work cut out for me. My daughter Selena (on the right in the photo) and I are hosting the first ever SLGW Mother/Daughter Hunt.

Hosting the Mother/Daughter Hunt is going to be a wonderful experience for both of us. We're working together to design something really special for the moms & daughters.

Selena is my 11 year old daughter. Even though she is only 11, she is a SL pro. She is learning how to design clothes under the mentorship of the amazing Alejandra Jumanya from Wetherby's. Alejandra was so impressed with Selena's work that she created a special space for Selena to offer her newest design as a freebie in Wetherby's this week (along with a matching purse and shoes that she made). Go check it out and prepare to be wow'd. She designed the dress on my work computer while I was stuck in meetings (how cool is it that I can take my daughter to work with me!?!) Selena hand drew the fabrics, matched the seams, drew in stitching details, figured out how to work the prim skirt builder, took the ad snapshot, photoshopped out the background, and did chores to earn money to pay for the uploads!

We have so much fun together both in RL and in SL. Lately, the girls (Selena and her friends) have been putting on Lady Gaga concerts at Ghost Dancing, a little night club in Ghostly Forest. It's a PG place, and anyone is welcome to come in and play on the stage. Here I am in my Lady Gaga headband!

I'm a firm believer in using SL as a teaching tool. Selena is learning graphic design, 3d modeling, business practices, marketing, and the value of hard work. All made possible by her participation in a virtual world under the supervision of people who lover her.

It's official. I'm crazy. :-)

I have opened a little store in Nightfield: "Another World - for the kinda goth"

It's filled with some of the the things I've made for myself and my friends. You know, some of those sorta goth, almost goth, kinda goth items that I'm so fond of. I have a Midnight Mania board there, too, as well as a couple freebies/cheapies.

My newest item is this little grungy corset dress. I'm offering it at 1/2 off this week to celebrate the opening.

I also built the building in which my store is located. It's just a little castle, but I'm very proud of it.

The castle is also for sale for only L$100. It is only 12x28, will fit on a 512m lot, and is only 69 prims.

Yesterday, I created a little table for my marketplace in Ghostly Forest. I was inspired by a similar table in the Design Toscano catalog, although I've seen it elsewhere. The chairs fit perfectly under the table to make it look like a rounded bookcase. Each chair has a sit pose. It can be a nice, cozy, table for two.
